Dr. Sara Day PHD, CPSYCH
Welcome! I’m Dr. Sara Day and thank you for taking the time to learn about my practice. I am a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience working in hospital and private practice settings. I completed both my Master’s and Doctorate in Psychology at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, and am registered as Clinical Psychologist in Ontario.
My training and clinical practice draw on current research and range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. This helps me understand each person’s concerns from more than one perspective and integrate methods to fit their individual needs. These approaches include Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Brainspotting, mindfulness-based skills, and sensorimotor techniques.
Over many years of practice, I have had the privilege of working with individuals experiencing a wide range of concerns, including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, schizophrenia, dissociative disorders, personality disorders, and phobias. I also have extensive experience working with individuals navigating identity, relationships, cultural, and sexuality concerns, including challenges faced by LGBTIQQ2S communities. In all my care I endeavour to do so in a manner that is attentive, affirming and grounded in respect for each person’s lived experience.
Trauma recovery has been the heart of my work throughout my career, and I am deeply committed to helping people heal from the lasting effects of trauma – whether in childhood or as an adult. Today, I offer short-term online trauma-focused psychotherapy for adults, as well as consultation and clinical supervision for other mental health professionals. I often work collaboratively with clients primary therapists, using evidence-based approaches such as EMDR and Brainspotting to help process distressing memories and experiences that continue to impact daily life.
It takes courage to come to therapy and share your inner world. Holding space for your story is a responsibility and privilege I hold with deep respect and the utmost care. My desire for each individual is that they might reconnect with their inner strengths and core values, and experience a deeper sense of peace, and self-confidence. From there, they can move forward authentically, creating a life that feels truly their own – with meaning, joy, and fulfillment
